Palmyra approves referendum by 13 votes

The Just 13 votes separated the margin of victory in Palmyra School Districtís referendum. Voters approved a $9.9 million to fund major infrastructure improvements to the high school, the Delaware Avenue School and the Charles Street School by a vote of 275 to 262. Garrison Architects of Mt. Laurel is leading the design team.

The money will go towards a new heating and air-conditioning system, extensive electrical work, asbestos removal and installation of an elevator at the high school; boiler-room repairs, construction of handicap ramps and asbestos removal at the Delaware Avenue School; and asbestos removal, electrical work throughout the building, new heating and air-conditioning systems in the gym and cafeteria, the installation of solar panels and an energy conversion system at the Charles Street School.

The bond will increase property taxes for the owner of a house assessed at the township average of $100,000 by $186 a year.
