OCEAN CITY - The Ocean City Arts Center announces that its annual Membership
Meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in the Ballet Studio of the Center, which is located at 1735 Simpson Ave. on the second floor. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker at the meeting will be Robert N. Garrison, senior partner in Garrison Architects, the architectural firm that is designing the new addition to the Ocean City Cultural Community Center. Garrison Architects was the firm responsible for the new Ocean City High School, which was completed in 2004.

The improvements to the Community Center will expand the Library, build a new senior center, and improve the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The City of Ocean City, the Ocean City Free Public Library, and the County of Cape May are partnering to move the project forward. A new lecture room with sloped seating that can accommodate up to about 100 people will be part of the expansion. The Arts Center hopes to work with the Library in hosting films, poetry readings, musical performances, and other special cultural events that benefit the community within the new lecture room.

Mr. Garrison is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture. A Registered Architect (RA) in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, as well as ten other states, Mr. Garrison has almost 40 years of experience in providing architectural design expertise to Public Libraries.

At the annual meeting, the Board will honor the Center's many volunteers. According to Board President Dr. Jack Devine, "the Arts Center could not operate without the time and talent that its many volunteers contribute to the functioning of the Center; we are extremely grateful to them." Sonya Bertini, a member of the Board of Trustees, will make a special presentation to the volunteers.
