Franklin, Elk voters OK school budgets, $2.3M bond referendum

Franklin and Elk Township residents chose Tuesday to pass Franklin Township Public Schools and Delsea Regional School districts budgets and to decide on candidates for Franklin and Delsea boards of education.

In a 456 to 304 vote, Franklin voters approved the elementary school district’s proposed $19.4 million budget that carries a 3.74-cent tax rate increase, according to unofficial results.

With 442 yeses and 244 no votes, voters also approved a bond referendum for $2.3 million for a roofing and HVAC project at Mary F. Janvier School to a design by Garrison Architects of Marlton.

Incumbents Janet Reger (472) and Mary Kientz (403) and newcomer Sherri Gorrell (411) won seats on the Franklin Township Board of Education that each carry a three-year term. Incumbent David Busarello (308) lost his seat on the board. Raymond R. Martin (238) was also defeated.
