Delsea Regional voters approve repairs to schools

Roof repairs to Delsea Regional High School and middle school, renovations to both schools and an expansion at the middle school were approved by voters during a referendum vote on Tuesday.

However, they rejected proposals for a new athletic projects, including new lighting and turf at high school stadium field.

Voters in Franklin and Elk Township were asked to approve three questions, the first was an expansion on the middle school, roof repairs for both schools and HVAC work in both schools totaling $20.7 million.

The second question, totaling $1.5 million for new stadium lighting and a one-story building which would provide storage, restrooms and a concession stand. The third question would allocate $1.6 million for artificial turf at the existing stadium.

Voters turned out and passed the first question by a tally of 1,767 to 413, according to the county's unofficial results. Voters defeated the second question by a tally of 1,177 to 981, and the last question was rejected 1,440 to 713. .
