CAMDEN — The Yorkship Elementary School here will be getting new boilers thanks to an advance from the state’s Schools Development Authority.

SDA officials said the emergent repair project at Yorkship has been estimated at more than $485,000, according to Garrison Architects, Architect of Record for the District. The school, built in 1920, has 656 students enrolled in pre-K through sixth grades.

Emergent projects are those deemed necessary due to potential health and safety issues. The SDA manages many emergent projects, while others, like the Yorkship project, are delegated for district management.

Through a grant agreement with the SDA, the Camden Public School district is now responsible for procuring and disbursing payment to the consultants and contractors for the boiler project.
